Where it came from
Released in 2015, Ruido Horrible X serves as a milestone compilation celebrating the first decade of the independent Mexican record label Ruido Horrible. The project was conceived to showcase the eclectic and experimental roster that defined the label's identity during its formative years, focusing on the underground noise, punk, and avant-garde scenes in Mexico City. By compiling tracks from various associated artists, the release acted as both a retrospective for longtime listeners and a sonic manifesto for the label's abrasive, uncompromising aesthetic.
The design of the release reflects the label's DIY ethos, prioritizing raw expression over polished commercial packaging. The artwork and curation were driven by the label's core collective, who aimed to encapsulate the chaotic energy of their live shows and the spirit of their community. Upon release, the compilation was received as a significant document of a specific niche within the Mexican independent music circuit, noted for its commitment to experimental sounds that rarely found a home in mainstream music distribution.
