Russian Piano Music Series Vol. 3 - Reinhold Glière

Released in 2002 by the Olympia label, this recording is part of a dedicated series focused on Russian piano music. It serves as an exploration of the works of Reinhold Glière, a composer who acted as a crucial bridge between the late Romantic tradition and the Soviet era. The series was designed to showcase both the well-known staples of the Russian repertoire and neglected compositions, providing a comprehensive listening experience for enthusiasts of Slavic classical music.

The album features performances by Anthony Goldstone, a pianist widely respected for his commitment to reviving forgotten repertoire. Goldstone's approach centers on technical clarity and an empathetic understanding of the pedagogical and emotional depth inherent in Russian romanticism. Upon its release, the recording was received by critics as a valuable contribution to the discography of lesser-known keyboard works, noted for its archival significance and the pianist's thoughtful interpretation of Glière’s nuanced melodic language.
