Provenance

Where it came from

Released in 1996 by the German label Bear Family Records, this compilation serves as the eighth volume in the celebrated 'That'll Flat ... Git It!' series. The collection was curated to preserve and highlight the high-energy, often overlooked rockabilly output from the catalogs of Abbott, Fabor, and Radio Records, labels that were active during the mid-1950s. By meticulously gathering these rare tracks, Bear Family sought to provide a comprehensive historical document of the regional rockabilly boom that occurred outside of the major commercial centers.

The design of the series follows Bear Family's signature archival aesthetic, which prioritizes historical fidelity and exhaustive documentation. These compilations were produced for an audience of dedicated roots music enthusiasts and musicologists who valued the technical restoration of original master tapes. Upon its release, the volume was well-received by rockabilly fans for its scholarly approach to archiving obscure recordings, solidifying the label's reputation for maintaining the integrity of early American rock and country music traditions.
