Where it came from
Released in 2014 on the Danish label Stunt Records, The Good Life represents a sophisticated collaboration between saxophonist Christina von Bülow, pianist Søren Kristiansen, bassist Jesper Lundgaard, and legendary American drummer Eliot Zigmund. The album captures the quartet’s affinity for the Great American Songbook, blending lyrical jazz sensibilities with the seasoned, rhythmic finesse that Zigmund—best known for his work with Bill Evans—brought to the ensemble.
The album was conceived as a tribute to the classic jazz quartet format, focusing on seamless interplay and harmonic clarity. Critically received as a testament to von Bülow’s melodic maturity, the recording is celebrated for its warm acoustic production and the natural chemistry between the European instrumentalists and Zigmund. It remains a hallmark release for Stunt Records, reflecting a dedicated approach to maintaining the vitality of acoustic jazz traditions.
