The Kevin Bloody Wilson Party Starter

The Kevin Bloody Wilson Party Starter is a compilation release that captures the irreverent, quintessentially Australian comedic style of Kevin Bloody Wilson, the persona of songwriter Dennis Bryant. Emerging from the pub-rock circuit of the 1980s, Wilson gained notoriety for his crude, unfiltered lyrics and satirical take on Australian working-class culture. This collection was curated to serve as an accessible entry point into his extensive discography, bundling his most recognizable tracks under the Both Barrels Music label, which Wilson established to maintain creative control over his repertoire.

The design of the collection leans into the artist's brand of unpretentious, 'larrikin' humor, utilizing iconography that reflects the bawdy aesthetic synonymous with his live performances. While Wilson's work was initially ignored by mainstream radio due to its explicit nature, it found immense success through word-of-mouth distribution and independent retail channels. The Party Starter is viewed by fans and critics alike as a definitive document of his influence on the Australian comedy-music scene, remaining a staple in collections that celebrate his specific brand of defiance against social norms.
