Where it came from
Released in 1996 by CBC Records, The Stereo Morning Collection was curated by Peter-Anthony Togni, a prominent Canadian broadcaster, pianist, and composer. The compilation drew from the extensive archives of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, reflecting the eclectic and high-fidelity programming that characterized Togni’s tenure as a host for the network’s classical music offerings.
The collection was designed to capture the atmospheric and curated sensibility of the Stereo Morning radio program, serving as a sonic companion to the morning broadcast experience. By blending solo classical performances with chamber works, the record aimed to present a refined selection of Canadian and international recordings that met the CBC's rigorous standards for studio production and clarity, ultimately finding its audience among listeners who favored the thoughtful, curated flow of public radio.
