Where it came from
Today Tomorrow Forever was released in 1996 on the independent Spector Music label, arriving during the mid-nineties surge of underground jangle-pop. The album represents the quintessential output of Jolly Pickles, a band deeply rooted in the DIY ethos of that era, crafted to capture a specific brand of earnest, lo-fi songwriting that defined the smaller label scenes in the Pacific Northwest.
The album's minimalist aesthetic was designed by the band members themselves, utilizing high-contrast photography to mirror the melancholic yet hopeful lyrical themes contained on the disc. While it remained a cult release upon its debut, the album is now frequently cited by music archivists as a preserved snapshot of the transitional period between traditional college rock and the emerging bedroom pop movement.
