Where it came from
Released in 1996 on the independent Prophetic Heart Records label, We Give You Thanks represents a specific niche of mid-1990s contemporary Christian music. The project was helmed by Larry and Kim Harrison, a husband-and-wife duo known for their contributions to the gospel and inspirational music circuit during that era. The recording captures the earnest, worship-oriented songwriting style that characterized many independent faith-based releases produced during the mid-90s, focusing on lyrical themes of gratitude and devotional praise.
The album reflects the production aesthetics common to independent Christian labels of the period, emphasizing vocal harmony and accessible instrumental arrangements meant for congregational or personal devotion. As a smaller-market release, it was primarily distributed through specialized Christian bookstores and direct ministry channels rather than mainstream retail outlets. While it did not reach widespread commercial success, the collection serves as a documentation of the Harrisons' collaborative ministry work and the broader landscape of independent gospel production in the mid-1990s.
