The United Jazz + Rock Ensemble, often abbreviated as UJRE, was a supergroup founded in 1975 by members of the Wolfgang Dauner Quintet and musicians from various German radio big bands. The group was conceived as a platform for collective improvisation and original compositions, operating on a cooperative model that allowed members to bypass the constraints of traditional commercial jazz labels. This 1999 CD release reflects the mature phase of the ensemble, which consistently prioritized a blend of fusion, avant-garde, and traditional jazz elements that defined the European scene in the late twentieth century.

The album was released on MOOD Records, a label established by Wolfgang Dauner in 1975 specifically to document the work of the UJRE and associated artists. The visual identity of the label and the ensemble's releases often featured minimalist or abstract cover art, reflecting the band's focus on experimental textures and collaborative musicianship. The 1999 release was part of an extensive catalog that helped cement the UJRE's reputation as a vital force in European jazz, earning praise from critics for the members' technical proficiency and the ensemble's enduring commitment to artistic independence.
