Where it came from
Released in 2006 on the Silence label, X-Ray serves as a significant entry in the discography of the Eero Koivistoinen Music Society. This project emerged during a period when Koivistoinen, a titan of Finnish jazz, was revisiting and reinterpreting his earlier compositions with a contemporary ensemble, blending traditional acoustic jazz textures with modern production sensibilities.
The album is noted for its sophisticated arrangements and the seamless interplay between veteran musicians and rising talents of the era. Critics often highlighted the record's polished sound as a reflection of Koivistoinen's long-standing pursuit of musical clarity and technical precision, cementing his reputation as a versatile bandleader who remains deeply connected to the evolution of the Nordic jazz scene.
