Where it came from
Released in 2002 under the Durmar Records label, this eponymous studio album represents a specific moment in the early 2000s Latin pop and tropical music landscape. Yohany, known for his work within the genre, sought to capture the rhythmic sensibilities of the era, blending accessible melodies with arrangements typical of the production standards found in independent labels specializing in Caribbean and Latin sounds during that time.
The album serves as a definitive look at the artist's creative direction during a period of transition in the music industry, just as digital distribution began to challenge the traditional CD format. Produced with an emphasis on radio-friendly appeal, the design and musical composition reflect the aesthetic choices of Durmar Records, focusing on delivering a cohesive project that established the artist’s persona for a wider regional audience.
