1 Dollar - Elizabeth II (6th Portrait - Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle - Silver Bullion Coin)

The Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle series was introduced in 2014 as a collaboration between the Perth Mint and the renowned American sculptor and engraver John M. Mercanti. As the twelfth Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, Mercanti brought a distinct sculptural sensibility to the design, focusing on a striking depiction of Australia’s largest bird of prey. The series was developed to appeal to both bullion investors and collectors of high-quality numismatic art, establishing a bridge between Australian wildlife themes and internationally recognized artistic craftsmanship.

The 2021 release features the sixth definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark, which was adopted by the Perth Mint across its various sovereign issues starting in 2019. The obverse presents this refined royal effigy, while the reverse showcases Mercanti's recurring wedge-tailed eagle motif. This particular iteration was well-received for its crisp strike and the high purity of its silver content, continuing a tradition of thematic consistency that has made the Wedge-Tailed Eagle one of the more prominent annual bullion programs in the Pacific region.
