Where it came from
Issued by the People's Bank of China in 2015, this commemorative 1 Yuan coin was produced to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The release was part of a broader government-led commemorative program, reflecting the official emphasis on historical memory and national unity during a milestone year for the state.
The design of the coin features a prominent depiction of the 70th-anniversary logo, characterized by the number 70 integrated with the Great Wall and five doves, symbolizing peace and national strength. The reverse side displays the national emblem of the People's Republic of China, accompanied by the year of issue. It was minted using a bi-metal composition and released into general circulation alongside precious metal versions to ensure accessibility for the public, receiving widespread interest from domestic collectors and citizens participating in the commemorative events.
