Where it came from
Released by the Monnaie de Paris in 2018, this 10-euro coin was part of the 'Disney: Mickey & la France' commemorative series. The collection was designed to celebrate the cultural intersection between Disney's iconic mascot and various French regions, bridging the gap between numismatic tradition and global popular culture. The design features Mickey Mouse positioned in a classic streetwear-inspired pose, reflecting a modern, casual aesthetic intended to appeal to both serious coin collectors and fans of the Disney brand.
The artistic direction for this series leaned into a fusion of heritage craftsmanship and whimsical contemporary design. By utilizing high-quality silver, the Monnaie de Paris aimed to create a tangible memento that felt both premium and playful. Upon its release, the coin was well-received as a novelty item, successfully expanding the reach of commemorative minting to a younger demographic while maintaining the technical standards expected of the French national mint.
