Where it came from
The 100 Heinz Hoogtepunten series serves as a retrospective collection of the iconic comic strip character Heinz, created by the Dutch artist René Windig and Eddie de Jong. Heinz is a cynical, anthropomorphic ginger cat known for his darkly humorous observations on life and society. Debuting in the 1980s, the strip became a staple of the Dutch comics scene, celebrated for its absurd narrative style and the creators' experimental approach to the medium.
This specific issue, number 3, functions as a curated selection of the creators' most memorable work. Windig and de Jong utilized the strip to push the boundaries of traditional comic layouts, often deconstructing the form while maintaining the character's bleakly comedic voice. The collection was designed to celebrate the longevity of the series, offering long-time fans a structured look back at the development of Heinz's character and the evolution of the authors' satirical wit over several decades.
