Where it came from
Released in 2024, 2000 AD #2500 serves as a milestone celebration for the long-running British science fiction anthology comic. First debuting in 1977, the series has long been a staple of UK comics culture, famously introducing characters like Judge Dredd. This anniversary issue was designed to honor the magazine's longevity by bringing together established veterans and contemporary creators to celebrate the core spirit of the 'Galaxy's Greatest Comic.'
The design of the issue emphasizes the signature aesthetic that has defined 2000 AD for nearly five decades: gritty, satirical, and visually kinetic storytelling. It features a celebratory wraparound cover intended to evoke the classic covers of the past while highlighting the evolving artistic styles of the modern lineup. Reception has been characterized by nostalgia from long-term readers and a focus on the magazine's role as a vital incubator for international comic talent.
