A Howl of the Heart #1

A Howl of the Heart #1 represents the debut of an independent comic series that emerged during the late 2010s. Created as a creator-owned project, the series was designed to explore themes of folklore and atmospheric horror, reflecting a broader trend in the independent comics scene toward personal, auteur-driven storytelling. The aesthetic choices lean heavily into high-contrast linework and evocative, moody color palettes intended to ground the narrative in a distinct, otherworldly environment.

The initial release was produced to gauge interest in a serialized format, with the creators prioritizing thematic depth over traditional superhero tropes. Upon its release, the first issue was noted by independent comic circles for its distinctive visual identity and intentional pacing. It served as a proof of concept for the wider narrative arc, establishing the tone and visual vocabulary that the creative team intended to carry throughout the series.
