Action Comics Weekly #612

Action Comics Weekly #612 was published in 1988 as part of an experimental anthology format that briefly replaced the long-running monthly title. In an effort to revitalize sales and emulate the success of weekly comic magazines popular in other markets, DC Comics transitioned the flagship series into a weekly format, featuring multiple serialized stories per issue rather than a single lead narrative.

The issue features the artistic work of creators like Dan Jurgens, who contributed to the ongoing Superman segments during this period. The design and structure of the anthology were intended to provide a faster, more consistent delivery of content to readers, though the format was ultimately short-lived. Critical reception at the time was mixed, as the transition away from a traditional monthly Superman comic proved polarizing for long-time readers, leading the publisher to revert to the established format shortly thereafter.
