Action Comics Weekly #615

Action Comics Weekly #615 was released in 1988 as part of an experimental anthology format that briefly replaced the long-running monthly title. Seeking to revitalize interest in the flagship DC Comics brand, editors shifted the publication schedule from a traditional monthly single-character format to a weekly serialized anthology. This particular issue features the continued adventures of Green Lantern, Deadman, Blackhawk, and Superman, reflecting the broader editorial push to integrate diverse tones within a single comic book experience.

The issue features artwork and narrative contributions from creators such as Denny O'Neil and John Byrne, who were central to DC's creative strategy during the late 1980s. The design and structure of these issues aimed to mimic the pacing of newspaper strips, a nostalgic nod that DC hoped would appeal to both veteran readers and a younger demographic. While the weekly format was eventually discontinued in favor of returning to the traditional Action Comics monthly run, this series remains a distinct marker of the industry's willingness to experiment with the medium during that era.
