Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters #2

Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters #2 was published in 1986 by Eclipse Comics during the mid-1980s surge of independent black-and-white comic book parodies. Created by Don Chin and illustrated by Dave Garcia, the series was conceived as a satirical response to the sudden, explosive popularity of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which had established the trope of mutated martial arts animals in pop culture.

The design and tone of the series leaned heavily into absurd humor and over-the-top combat tropes, with Garcia’s kinetic, gritty artwork providing a distinct visual contrast to the inherently silly premise. While the title is frequently cited as a quintessential example of the era’s trend of derivative indie comics, it maintains a cult following among collectors of underground and small-press publications from that decade.
