Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters #4

Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters debuted in 1986, emerging as one of several short-lived comic book properties that sought to capitalize on the massive commercial success of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Published by Eclipse Comics, the series was written by Don Chin and featured illustrations by artist David Albert. The creators embraced a satirical, tongue-in-cheek tone, utilizing the absurdity of their premise to parody the dark and gritty trends prevalent in mid-eighties independent comics.

Issue number four continued the high-concept, irreverent narrative that characterized the series, presenting the martial-arts-trained rodents in bizarre, science-fiction-inspired scenarios. While the title is frequently cited by collectors as a quintessential example of the speculative boom in independent comics during the late 1980s, the series was generally viewed by critics as a disposable novelty rather than a significant contribution to the medium, though it maintains a nostalgic following among enthusiasts of eighties pop-culture ephemera.
