Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters #7

Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters #7 was published in 1986 by Eclipse Comics during the mid-eighties surge of anthropomorphic comic book parodies. The series, which debuted in 1986, was created by Don Chin and illustrated by artist Dave Garcia. It served as a direct, tongue-in-cheek response to the immense commercial success of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, adopting a similar premise but leaning into absurdism and satire to differentiate itself in the crowded independent market.

The creative direction of the series focused on high-concept comedy, utilizing the hamsters as martial arts masters trained in space. While the series captured a specific niche of readers during the black-and-white comic book boom, it remains a quintessential example of the era's counter-culture publishing trend. Issue #7 continues the established tone of the series, reflecting the aesthetic sensibilities of independent publishers like Eclipse who prioritized unconventional themes and surreal humor over traditional superhero archetypes.
