Adventure Comics #136

Published in January 1949 by DC Comics, Adventure Comics #136 arrived during a transitional era for the superhero genre. Following the post-war decline in popularity for costumed vigilantes, the series increasingly pivoted toward lighthearted adventure, humor, and youth-oriented stories. This specific issue reflects that shift, moving away from the gritty urban crime dramas of the early 1940s toward the whimsical anthology style that would define much of the company's output through the early Silver Age.

The creative direction of the title at this time was heavily influenced by the editorial mandate to broaden the appeal of the comics to a younger demographic. Featuring the work of established DC illustrators and writers, the issue emphasizes the colorful, episodic storytelling characteristic of the late Golden Age. While individual credits for this specific issue are often obscured by the common practice of the era to favor house-wide creative teams over individual bylines, it stands as a clear example of the period's focus on escapist entertainment rather than the heavy-handed moralizing found in earlier superhero tales.
