Adventure Comics #48

Adventure Comics #48 was published in March 1940 by DC Comics, then known as National Allied Publications, during the Golden Age of comic books. At this stage in the series' history, the publication functioned as an anthology title, serving as a platform to test various characters and genres including humor, adventure, and early detective stories, reflecting the industry's experimental approach to building a loyal readership before the definitive superhero boom fully solidified.

The issue is noted for its early place in the history of the anthology format, featuring a diverse array of stories crafted by the house staff of the era. These early numbers relied on an eclectic mix of creative talent, prioritizing pulp-style storytelling that leaned heavily into adventure tropes. While it predates the massive historical significance of the later superhero-heavy issues of the series, it remains a testament to the formative period of comic book serials and the standard editorial practices of the late 1930s and early 1940s.
