Adventure Comics #476

Adventure Comics #476, published in November 1980, represents a pivotal moment in the Silver and Bronze Age transition of DC Comics. During this period, the title was serving as a home for various feature stories, and this specific issue is best known for its inclusion of a 'Plastic Man' adventure written by Martin Pasko and illustrated by Joe Staton. The era was marked by experimental editorial shifts as DC attempted to modernize its classic properties while maintaining a traditional appeal for established readers.

The creative team behind this era of Adventure Comics leaned heavily into the stylistic sensibilities of the late 1970s and early 1980s, prioritizing dynamic action sequences and humor. Joe Staton's work, in particular, brought a recognizable, energetic flair to the Plastic Man segments, emphasizing the character's rubbery malleability. While this specific issue is a standard entry in a long-running anthology series, it is frequently cited by collectors for its role in preserving the legacy of DC's secondary roster of superheroes during a time when the industry was bracing for the major shifts of the mid-1980s.
