Alien: King Killer #1

Alien: King Killer #1, published by Dark Horse Comics in 1996, emerged during a peak era of licensed Alien franchise expansions. As a four-part miniseries written by James Vance with art by Genzoman, the story followed a specialized team attempting to cull the Xenomorph population on a planet hosting a massive hive, reflecting the intense action-oriented tone that characterized many Dark Horse interpretations of the property during the mid-nineties.

The creative direction for this series focused on high-stakes survival horror tropes, utilizing the visual aesthetic popularized by the film series while allowing artists to explore the biomechanical anatomy of the creatures in static, detailed panels. Upon its release, the issue was received as a standard entry in the expanded universe of the Alien franchise, appealing primarily to comic enthusiasts and fans of the burgeoning expanded lore that sought to bridge the gap between cinematic releases.
