Aquaman #23

Aquaman issue 23, published in September 1965, arrived during the height of the Silver Age of comic books. At this time, the character was a staple of DC Comics' Justice League lineup, and his own title was firmly established under the creative guidance of writer Bob Haney and artist Nick Cardy. The issue reflects the era's focus on imaginative, often underwater science-fiction adventures that pushed the boundaries of the character's supporting cast and mythos.

Nick Cardy's illustrative work on this series is highly regarded by collectors for its dynamic layouts and distinct, clean linework, which helped define the visual aesthetic of DC's titles in the mid-1960s. This specific period of the Aquaman title is remembered for balancing the character's royal responsibilities in Atlantis with episodic, action-oriented storytelling that remained a hallmark of the publisher's editorial direction during that decade.
