Aquaman #28

Published by DC Comics in 1966, Aquaman number 28 arrived during the height of the Silver Age of comic books. This issue features the work of writer Nick Cardy and artist Nick Cardy, who was instrumental in defining the visual language of the series during this era. The narrative continues the adventures of Arthur Curry as he balances his responsibilities as the King of Atlantis with his role as a terrestrial protector, reflecting the era's fascination with expanding cosmic and oceanic mythologies within the DC universe.

The creative direction of this period focused on blending high-stakes action with the surreal, fantastical elements of the underwater kingdom. Cardy's illustrations are particularly noted for their dynamic compositions and intricate detail, which helped distinguish Aquaman from his contemporaries. While the title often contended with fluctuating popularity, this specific run is remembered for its aesthetic consistency and the successful development of Aquaman’s supporting cast, securing its place as a representative artifact of mid-sixties superhero storytelling.
