Archie vs. the Terminator #1

Archie vs. the Terminator #1 was released in 2015 as a four-part crossover miniseries published by Dark Horse Comics, bridging the gap between Archie Comics' wholesome Riverdale setting and the grim, dystopian future of the Terminator franchise. The project emerged from a trend of unexpected licensed crossovers that placed established pop-culture icons into radically different genres, capitalizing on the tonal dissonance between the two properties to create a unique horror-satire experience.

The series was written by Alex de Campi and illustrated by Fernando Ruiz. The artistic direction was intended to maintain the classic, clean-lined Archie house style in its depiction of Riverdale residents, which serves to heighten the visual shock when they encounter the brutal, biomechanical lethality of the Terminator. Critics noted the book's self-aware approach, observing that the creative team successfully navigated the inherent absurdity of the premise to deliver a story that remained faithful to the spirit of both intellectual properties.
