Ashita Kubi ni Narisō #6

Ashita Kubi ni Narisō, translated as I Might Get Fired Tomorrow, is a manga series by the Japanese creator Minoru Furuya. First serialized in the mid-1990s, the work emerged during a period where Furuya gained significant attention for his distinctively grotesque and cynical take on the 'salaryman' lifestyle and the anxieties of young Japanese men. The series is characterized by its uncomfortable, dark humor and an aesthetic that subverts traditional shonen tropes, presenting a deeply flawed protagonist navigating mundane, often pathetic, life challenges.

The sixth volume continues the series' exploration of social alienation and the frustration of modern existence. Furuya’s art style in this installment maintains his signature raw, expressive linework, which highlights the absurdity of the characters' situations. While the series was never intended for a mainstream, wholesome audience, it received critical notice for its uncompromising tone, cementing Furuya's reputation as a provocative voice in late-twentieth-century seinen manga.
