Ashita Kubi ni Narisō #5

Ashita Kubi ni Narisō, translated as 'I Might Be Fired Tomorrow,' is a manga series created by artist and author Keisuke Hana. The series emerged from the Japanese office humor genre, capturing the anxieties and daily absurdities of corporate life for the average salaryman. It gained recognition for its cynical yet relatable depiction of workplace hierarchies and the struggle to maintain employment amidst the pressures of a demanding professional environment.

The fifth issue continues the episodic narrative style that defined the series, focusing on the protagonist's recurring brushes with termination. Keisuke Hana’s illustrative style, which leans into the aesthetic of 1980s and 1990s Japanese gag manga, was specifically designed to balance character-driven comedy with the mundane backdrop of an office. Upon its release, the work was noted for its resonance with readers who felt the pressures of Japan’s economic climate, cementing its place as a representative text of mid-career salaryman literature.
