Where it came from
Batman Beyond #7, published by DC Comics in 2000, emerged during the height of the popularity of the animated television series of the same name. This issue was part of the initial limited series that bridged the gap between the show's futuristic setting and the print medium, allowing writers and artists to explore the cyberpunk-inspired Gotham City beyond the limitations of television broadcast schedules.
The issue features work by writer Hilary J. Bader and artist Rick Burchett, who were both instrumental in maintaining the aesthetic consistency of the animated series within the comic format. Their approach aimed to capture the distinct 'neo-noir' tone of Terry McGinnis's tenure as Batman, emphasizing the character's struggle to balance his personal life with the demands of the mantle, a narrative theme that resonated strongly with fans of the show at the time.
