Books of Magic #3

Books of Magic #3 was published in 1993 as part of the initial four-issue prestige format miniseries written by Neil Gaiman. The series was commissioned by DC Comics under the Vertigo imprint to introduce readers to the magical corners of the DC Universe, following the protagonist Timothy Hunter as he is guided through hidden realms by a quartet of supernatural mentors. This third issue, subtitled 'The Land of Summer's Twilight,' continues the narrative journey through various mythological and magical landscapes.

The series is celebrated for its collaborative artistic approach, with this issue featuring illustrations by Charles Vess. Vess employed his signature intricate, fairy-tale inspired style to ground the story in a sense of timeless wonder. Upon its release, the miniseries was highly regarded for its literary ambition and helped establish the tone for the newly formed Vertigo line, eventually leading to a long-running ongoing series that explored the consequences of the original story's premise.
