Boule et Bill - La collection Roba #23

Boule et Bill, created by Jean Roba in 1959 for Spirou magazine, remains a cornerstone of Franco-Belgian comics. The series follows the everyday adventures of a young boy named Boule and his mischievous cocker spaniel, Bill. This specific volume belongs to a retrospective collection curated to honor Roba’s distinct illustrative style, which evolved from clean, classic ligne claire influences toward a more expressive, rounded aesthetic that captured the warmth of family life.

The 23rd issue in this collection highlights Roba’s mastery of the gag-a-day format, focusing on his talent for portraying anthropomorphic canine behavior and lighthearted domestic friction. Throughout his career, Roba was celebrated for his ability to convey character emotion through subtle posture and line work, a hallmark that earned the series immense popularity across generations. This reissue serves as a formal tribute to his long-standing partnership with the publishers and his enduring impact on the European comic landscape.
