Boule et Bill - La collection Roba #22

Boule et Bill, created by Jean Roba in 1959, stands as a cornerstone of Franco-Belgian comics, depicting the charming domestic adventures of a young boy and his cocker spaniel. The series was defined by Roba’s gentle humor and expressive line work, which captured the simple joys of suburban life through a perspective that was both observational and heartwarming. This specific volume belongs to a retrospective collection series designed to preserve and celebrate Roba's extensive body of work, bringing his classic gags to a new generation of readers while maintaining the visual integrity of the original newspaper strips.

The editorial approach for this collection focuses on archiving the evolution of the characters and Roba's artistic refinement over the decades. As a designer and illustrator, Roba was highly regarded for his ability to convey narrative through subtle body language and anthropomorphic whimsy, a trait that became the hallmark of the series. The collection was curated to showcase the high standard of his draftsmanship, ensuring that the legacy of the duo remained accessible to long-time fans who valued the historical continuity and the distinct mid-century aesthetic that Roba meticulously cultivated throughout his career.
