Colección TMEO #36

Colección TMEO, an imprint of the long-running Spanish satirical magazine TMEO, was established to compile the irreverent and often transgressive comic strips that defined the magazine's identity since its founding in Vitoria-Gasteiz in 1987. Issue number 36 represents a continuation of this tradition, emerging from an underground comix landscape that prioritized biting social commentary, absurdity, and a counter-cultural ethos. The series was designed to serve as a retrospective archive for the magazine's contributors, preserving work that frequently challenged the norms of post-Franco Spain.

The aesthetic of this collection is rooted in the distinct graphic styles of artists like Mauro Entrialgo, Roger, and Ata, who utilized the medium of the small-format comic booklet to reach a dedicated subculture of readers. The design philosophy favored raw, expressive line work and narrative cynicism, intended to provoke thought and laughter through the lens of political satire. Upon release, this specific issue was received by its audience as a staple of the independent publishing scene, reinforcing the magazine's reputation as a cornerstone of Spanish alternative humor.
