Where it came from
Colette Decides to Die was an independent limited series published in the early 2000s, reflecting the era's fascination with dark, character-driven alternative comics. Created as a brief, introspective exploration of existential malaise, the series was designed to blend minimalist line work with dense, atmospheric storytelling, distinguishing itself from the dominant superhero narratives of the time.
The creative team focused on a stark aesthetic, utilizing high-contrast ink techniques to mirror the protagonist's internal instability. While the series was never a mainstream commercial success, it earned a dedicated reputation among underground comics enthusiasts for its uncompromising tone and its refusal to offer conventional resolutions to the titular character's emotional trajectory.
