Where it came from
Comic X-Eros #137 is part of a long-running anthology series published by Eros Comix, an imprint of Fantagraphics Books established in the early 1990s. The series was designed to provide a dedicated space for erotica within the alternative comics market, pushing the boundaries of explicit storytelling while maintaining the independent aesthetic that defined the publisher's broader catalog.
The issue features contributors typical of the imprint’s roster, often highlighting artists who balanced traditional illustrative skill with the transgressive themes of the genre. Like many installments in the X-Eros series, this issue was received primarily by a niche audience of adult comic enthusiasts, serving as a documentation of the era's counter-cultural approach to adult art and narrative illustration.
