Dark Horse Presents #81

Dark Horse Presents #81 was published in January 1994 as part of Dark Horse Comics' long-running anthology series. The title served as a cornerstone of the publisher's output, designed to provide a showcase for both established creators and independent talent. By the time this issue was released, the series had firmly established itself as a platform for genre-defying work, often featuring a mix of superhero, science fiction, and noir stories that did not fit into traditional monthly comic book formats.

This specific issue is notable for its contribution to the growing body of darker, mature-themed comics in the mid-1990s. The editorial direction, overseen by the Dark Horse team, focused on high-quality production values and eclectic storytelling. It featured a cover by Frank Miller and contributions from various writers and artists of the era, reflecting the publisher's strategy of utilizing high-profile talent to anchor experimental or niche narratives within the anthology format. The issue was well-regarded for maintaining the anthology's reputation as a launchpad for original creator-owned projects.
