DC Comics Presents #18

DC Comics Presents #18 was released in 1980 as part of a long-running series designed to showcase team-ups between Superman and other characters within the DC Universe. This specific issue features a collaboration between Superman and the Metal Men, continuing the editorial tradition of pairing the Man of Steel with the publisher's diverse stable of heroes to drive sales and explore creative combinations that would not fit in the flagship Superman titles.

The issue was written by Gerry Conway, a veteran writer known for his significant contributions to the DC and Marvel universes during the Bronze Age. The interior art was provided by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, whose clean, definitive style became the visual standard for DC's licensing and style guides for decades. While the issue is primarily remembered by fans for Garcia-Lopez’s polished character renderings, it serves as a quintessential example of the accessible, episodic storytelling that defined DC’s approach to superhero team-up books in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
