DC Comics Presents #83

DC Comics Presents #83, published in July 1985, emerged during the final years of the series' run, which was designed to showcase team-ups between Superman and other heroes of the DC Universe. This specific issue features a team-up between Superman and the Masters of the Universe character He-Man, a crossover facilitated by the cross-promotional success of the toy lines and animated series of the era. The narrative was crafted to bridge the tonal gap between the cosmic scope of DC Comics and the fantasy-centric world of Eternia.

The issue was written by Paul Kupperberg, with art by Curt Swan, a legendary figure in Superman’s history, and inks by Dave Hunt. The aesthetic aimed to integrate He-Man’s muscular, sword-and-sorcery design into the more traditional superhero framework established by Swan. While the issue stands as a curious artifact of 1980s licensing synergy, it remains well-regarded by collectors for the rare visual juxtaposition of Superman alongside one of the decade's most iconic action figures.
