Devil's Due Presents: Hack/Slash & Mercy Sparx #1

Released in 2010 by Devil's Due Publishing, this crossover one-shot brought together two prominent independent comic book heroines: Cassie Hack from Tim Seeley's long-running Hack/Slash series and Mercy Sparx, the rebellious demon-angel creation of Josh Blaylock. The issue was designed to expand the Devil's Due crossover universe, capitalizing on the established fanbases of both cult-classic characters by placing them in a high-stakes supernatural confrontation that eventually evolved into a collaborative mission.

The issue was written by Josh Blaylock with interior art by various contributors, aiming to maintain the gritty, horror-adjacent aesthetic synonymous with the Hack/Slash brand while integrating the sharper, more irreverent tone of the Mercy Sparx mythos. Received primarily by dedicated fans of indie horror comics, the book served as a vehicle to spotlight Blaylock's original character within the more recognizable framework of the Seeley-created franchise, marking a notable moment in late-2000s independent crossover publishing.
