Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often abbreviated as DDSH, is a long-running German comic series published by Ehapa Verlag. Debuting in 1965, the series was created to provide a dedicated platform for high-quality Disney comic stories, particularly those featuring the work of Carl Barks. Over the decades, the Sonderheft has become a staple of German comic culture, prized by collectors for its curation of both classic reprints and newer international material.
Issue #112 follows the established design philosophy of the series, which prioritizes the narrative depth and expressive character work typical of the 'Good Duck Artist' school. By the time this issue was released, the series had firmly cemented its reputation as a serious anthology, moving away from purely ephemeral newsstand fare toward a curated format that highlighted the creative contributions of writers and artists like Don Rosa and Tony Strobl. The reception of these issues has historically been strong, driven by a dedicated fan base that values the tradition of European Donald Duck publications.
