Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often abbreviated as DDSH, is a long-running German comic series published by Ehapa. Launched in 1965, the series was designed to provide a dedicated platform for high-quality Disney comics, specifically focusing on the work of Carl Barks. The publication was instrumental in shaping the German perception of Donald Duck, moving away from purely slapstick humor toward the nuanced, adventurous storytelling that defined the 'Good Duck Artist' era.
Issue number 140, released in 1993, continues the series' tradition of reprinting classic Duck universe stories curated for the German market. Like most entries in the Sonderheft run, the design aesthetic relies on the established, clean lines of the Disney studio style, paired with the distinctive layout formatting typical of German newsstand comics of the era. The series has enjoyed enduring popularity due to its commitment to classic storytelling and its consistent role as a collector's staple for generations of German-speaking readers.
