Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often referred to as the DDSH, is a long-running German comic book series first launched by Ehapa Verlag in 1965. The publication was designed to bring high-quality, long-form Disney stories to the German market, moving beyond the shorter, gag-oriented strips found in other contemporary periodicals to focus on more substantial narrative arcs.
Issue #138 was part of the series' mid-1980s run, a period characterized by the inclusion of classic work from masters like Carl Barks and various contemporary European Disney artists. The design philosophy of the Sonderheft series centered on a consistent, accessible format that served as a cornerstone for German Donald Duck fandom, gaining critical appreciation for its role in maintaining the legacy of the Duckburg universe during a pivotal era for international comic licensing.
