Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft #139

Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often abbreviated as DDSH, is a long-running German comic book series published by Ehapa Verlag. Debuting in the mid-1960s, the series was conceived as a platform to present high-quality, often longer-form stories featuring Donald Duck and the extended Disney cast, distinct from the shorter, weekly Micky Maus-Magazin format. Issue number 139 arrived during the series' mature period, serving as a staple for fans who favored the classic Disney storytelling style popularized by artists like Carl Barks and later, the refined craftsmanship of the Egmont production line.

The design of these issues typically focuses on a clean, recognizable aesthetic that emphasizes the comic panels over extraneous text. The editorial direction for the Sonderheft series was heavily influenced by the German readership's appreciation for 'Barksian' duck comics, leading to a consistent look that prioritized the expressive, character-driven illustrations of the Disney studio. While individual artists and writers varied, the series garnered a dedicated following for its role in preserving and translating significant international Disney comic work for the German-speaking market, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of European comic culture.
