Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often abbreviated as DDSH, is a long-running German comic book series first published in 1965 by Ehapa. The series was designed to provide a dedicated platform for high-quality Disney comics, specifically focusing on the works of legendary artists like Carl Barks and later Don Rosa. Issue #136, released in the early 1990s, continues this tradition of curated anthology storytelling, capturing the mid-period aesthetic of the series as it solidified its status as a staple of German pop culture literature.
The editorial direction for this issue emphasizes the whimsical yet grounded narrative style characteristic of the Barks-era duck adventures. The design reflects the classic Ehapa house style, utilizing standardized layouts and vibrant color palettes that defined the German Disney comic market for decades. The issue was received as part of a widely collected series, valued by enthusiasts for its commitment to preserving the creative integrity of the original American comic strips and stories within the context of a European monthly format.
