Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often referred to as DDSH, is a long-running German comic book series first published in 1965 by Ehapa. It was conceived as a platform to showcase the higher-quality, often multi-page Donald Duck stories that did not fit into the standard weekly Micky Maus format. The series became a cornerstone for Disney comic enthusiasts in Germany, celebrated for its curated selection of classic works by legendary artists like Carl Barks and later, Don Rosa.
Issue number 396 was published in 2020 as part of this ongoing tradition. The design of these issues adheres to a consistent, recognizable house style established by Ehapa, featuring a distinct cover layout and high-quality paper stock that distinguishes them from newsstand weeklies. These issues are widely regarded by collectors as essential reading, valued for their focus on storytelling craft and the preservation of international Disney comic history for the German-speaking market.
