Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often abbreviated as DDSH, is a long-running German comic book series published by Ehapa Verlag. Debuting in 1965, the series was created to provide a dedicated home for high-quality Disney comics, particularly those featuring the work of Carl Barks, which were historically underrepresented in the German market. The format focused on longer, serialized stories that allowed for more narrative depth than the standard weekly Mickey Mouse comics of the era.
Issue #397, released in the early 2000s, follows the established tradition of the series by curating a selection of classic and contemporary Duck universe stories. The design aesthetic remains consistent with the series' long-standing identity, utilizing the recognizable logo and clear, vibrant layouts intended to appeal to both long-time adult collectors and new readers. Like most entries in this enduring series, it was received as a reliable staple of the German comic landscape, valued for its commitment to preserving the lineage of Donald Duck storytelling.
