Where it came from
Die tollsten Geschichten von Donald Duck – Sonderheft, often referred to by collectors as DDSH, began its run in 1965 as a dedicated platform for high-quality Carl Barks stories in the German market. Published by Ehapa, this series became a cornerstone for European Disney comic fans by curating a mix of classic American material and specialized content, moving away from the standard Micky Maus pocketbook format to provide a more focused reading experience centered on the Duck family.
Issue #244 was released as part of the long-running monthly serial that maintained a consistent visual identity through its iconic layout and vibrant cover art. The design philosophy of the series relied heavily on the timeless illustrative work of the Disney studio artists, specifically emphasizing the expressive, adventurous character dynamics established by Barks. Over decades, this series has been received as a foundational archive for German readers, preserving the narrative integrity of the golden age of Disney comics.
